DEFIANCE

The threads from this rope is bloody from my bleeding palms, but I can’t feel my defiance; I watch it instead. Coiled around you like a python, I won’t bite. I know my promises have been futile lately but can’t you see I’m busy bleeding, my darling? Won’t you pull me closer? I seem to be attached to an old friend that’s refused to let me down. I’ll whisper the truth if you’ll listen. He’s not really a friend, no he is not. I’ll pretend to love him, perhaps that’ll make him loosen his grips on me. I would reveal his name, but I’m still in defiance, focusing on my bleeding.
